The one-year Craniofacial Orthodontic Program at UAB provides advanced training in the diagnosis and treatment planning of patients with complex craniofacial anomalies and special care needs. The program covers cleft lip and palate, craniosynostosis, dentofacial deformities, craniofacial and orthognathic surgery, distraction osteogenesis, nasoalveolar molding, and special care orthodontics. Fellows gain clinical experience in newborn assessment, presurgical orthopedics, orthodontic management across different stages of dentition, surgical and orthodontic treatment planning, and postsurgical orthodontic care. Participants also complete a clinical research project and present their research at a national or international meeting.
