Neurosurgery Residency Program

• Must hold a medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited medical school
• Must meet eligibility requirements for residency training in the United States
• Must submit application through ERAS
• Must participate in the NRMP Match for selection
• Applicants should demonstrate strong academic performance, clinical skills, commitment to neurosurgery, and interest in research/academic medicine
• Required recommendation letters should follow Society of Neurological Surgeons (SNS) guidelines, including standardized letters of evaluation as applicable

The Neurosurgery Residency Program at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is an ACGME-accredited residency program that provides comprehensive training in all aspects of neurological surgery. The program offers extensive clinical and operative experience in areas including adult and pediatric neurosurgery, cerebrovascular surgery, spine surgery, neuro-oncology, trauma, neurocritical care, functional neurosurgery, and endovascular procedures. Residents receive progressive responsibility in patient care, surgical training, and clinical decision-making under the guidance of experienced faculty. The program also emphasizes research, innovation, teaching, and academic development, preparing residents for successful careers as independent neurosurgeons and leaders in clinical practice and academic medicine. Duration: 7 years (PGY-1 to PGY-7), including clinical rotations, surgical training, research experience, and advanced subspecialty exposure.
