Neurological Surgery Residency Program

1. Applicants must have completed medical school and meet the applicable requirements for entry into a postgraduate neurological surgery residency.
2. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements established by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and the University of Florida Graduate Medical Education program.
3. Applicants must meet applicable Florida medical licensure requirements.
4. International medical graduates must meet the applicable credentialing and Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification requirements.
5. Applicants must be eligible to work in the United States and meet the requirements for an appropriate visa or legal work status, if applicable.
6. Selection is competitive and considers academic credentials, preparedness, ability, communication skills, motivation, integrity, and overall suitability for neurosurgical training.

The Neurological Surgery Residency Program at the University of Florida (UF) College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida, provides seven years of comprehensive training in brain, spine, and nervous system surgery. The University of Florida College of Medicine offers advanced medical education, clinical care, and research opportunities. Its Department of Neurosurgery provides residents with supervised clinical and surgical experience at UF Health Shands Hospital and affiliated medical centers. The curriculum includes neurological intensive care, brain tumors, spinal disorders, neurovascular surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, and research, preparing graduates for independent neurosurgical practice or subspecialty training.

1. Apply to the Neurological Surgery Residency Program through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
2. Register with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) for the residency match.
3. Submit the required application documents and supporting credentials through ERAS, following the current application-cycle instructions.
4. The residency selection committee reviews applications and identifies candidates for interviews.
