MS Orthopedics

1. MBBS degree recognized by the National Medical Commission.
2. Completion of the one-year compulsory rotating internship before the course begins.
3. Valid NEET-PG qualification with rank meeting the required cutoff.
4. Registration (permanent or provisional) with the National Medical Commission or respective State Medical Council prior to joining the program.

The MS – Orthopaedics program at ICARE Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Haldia, is a three-year postgraduate surgical degree designed to train competent orthopaedic surgeons capable of managing the full spectrum of musculoskeletal conditions. The curriculum integrates rigorous academic learning with extensive clinical exposure in diagnosing and treating trauma cases, degenerative disorders, sports injuries, congenital abnormalities, and reconstructive surgical procedures. Residents receive hands-on training in orthopaedic wards, emergency units, operating theatres, and physiotherapy/rehabilitation setups under the guidance of experienced faculty. The program emphasizes the development of surgical skills, clinical decision-making, patient assessment, preoperative planning, post-operative care, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Through rotations and supervised practice at the associated Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy Hospital, students engage with real patient caseloads, participate in academic discussions, and conduct research relevant to orthopaedic practice. Graduates are prepared to pursue careers as consultants in hospitals, orthopedic specialty centers, academic institutions, or in further super-specialization fields.

1. Qualify NEET-PG: Candidates must appear for and qualify the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test – Postgraduate (NEET-PG).
2. Register for Counseling: Register through the designated counseling authority (e.g., West Bengal Medical Counselling Committee (WBMCC) or national/state PG counseling portal).
3. Choice Filling & Seat Allotment: Fill preferences for colleges and specialties; seats are allotted based on NEET-PG rank, reservation category, and seat availability.
4. Document Verification: Attend verification with NEET-PG scorecard, MBBS degree and internship certificates, identity proof, and category documents.
5. Fee Payment & Reporting: Pay the required fees and report to ICARE Institute of Medical Sciences and Research by the specified date to complete admission formalities.
