MS General Surgery

1. MBBS degree recognised by NMC.
2. Permanent/Provisional Medical Registration from State or National Medical Council.
3. Valid NEET-PG score and All-India rank.
4. Participation in centralised DGHS/MCC counselling for PG seats (Deemed University process).
5. Other criteria as per NMC/SIU/SMCW admission guidelines.

The MS – General Surgery programme at Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW), Pune was introduced as part of the postgraduate (MD/MS) programmes commencing from the academic year 2025-26 after approval by the National Medical Commission. This advanced clinical training equips graduates with comprehensive surgical skills, including operative techniques, patient management, pre- and post-operative care, and emergency surgical interventions. Students gain extensive hands-on experience in major surgical procedures across disciplines — such as abdominal, gastrointestinal, soft tissue, trauma, and minimally invasive surgeries — at the attached Symbiosis University Hospital & Research Centre (SUHRC), a tertiary care teaching hospital on campus. The course fosters clinical reasoning, research exposure, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ethical practice, preparing surgeons for independent clinical practice, academic medicine, or further specialty training.
