The Medical Physics Residency at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine is a CAMPEP-accredited two-year clinical residency designed to train future leaders in therapeutic medical physics. Conducted within the Department of Radiation Oncology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, the program combines intensive clinical education with research and academic development. Residents receive individualized mentorship from board-certified medical physicists while participating in every aspect of modern radiation oncology practice. Training includes advanced radiation treatment planning, quality assurance, imaging, machine commissioning, radiation safety, dosimetry, adaptive radiotherapy, stereotactic radiosurgery, brachytherapy, and MR-guided radiation therapy. The department treats approximately 120–140 patients daily, providing residents with extensive exposure to diverse and complex clinical cases using state-of-the-art technology. Residents also participate in multidisciplinary conferences, research projects, journal clubs, and educational seminars that promote evidence-based practice and innovation. Upon completion, graduates are well prepared for American Board of Radiology certification and careers in academic medical centers, hospitals, cancer institutes, research organizations, and the medical technology industry.
