Overview
The MD in Microbiology at FAAMCH is designed to train postgraduate students in the diagnosis, prevention, and control of infectious diseases. Established in 2011, FAAMCH provides modern laboratory facilities for bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, and immunology. The program emphasizes both practical diagnostic skills and theoretical knowledge of microbial pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance, and hospital infection control. Students gain exposure to advanced diagnostic methods including molecular microbiology and serological testing. They also participate in teaching undergraduate MBBS students, conducting research, presenting seminars, and publishing scientific work. Eligibility
- MBBS degree recognized by NMC (formerly MCI).
- Completion of a one-year compulsory rotating internship.
- Permanent/provisional registration with State Medical Council/NMC.
- Must have qualified NEET-PG examination.
- Admission through All India Quota (MCC) or Assam State Quota (DME Assam) counselling.
