Overview

    The MD in Microbiology at FAAMCH is designed to train postgraduate students in the diagnosis, prevention, and control of infectious diseases. Established in 2011, FAAMCH provides modern laboratory facilities for bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, and immunology. The program emphasizes both practical diagnostic skills and theoretical knowledge of microbial pathogenesis, antimicrobial resistance, and hospital infection control. Students gain exposure to advanced diagnostic methods including molecular microbiology and serological testing. They also participate in teaching undergraduate MBBS students, conducting research, presenting seminars, and publishing scientific work. Graduates of this program are prepared for careers as clinical microbiologists in hospitals, researchers in biomedical fields, infection control specialists, or faculty in medical colleges.

Eligibility

    • MBBS degree recognized by NMC (formerly MCI).
    • Completion of a one-year compulsory rotating internship.
    • Permanent/provisional registration with State Medical Council/NMC.
    • Must have qualified NEET-PG examination.
    • Admission through All India Quota (MCC) or Assam State Quota (DME Assam) counselling.

Admission Process:

  • Central Admission process by Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), based on NEET PG entrance exam merit list. The MCC will publish the seat matrix, online application dates & deadlines and allotment schedule on its official website, for different admission round for 50% seats of MD/MS/Diploma courses through out India. The remaining 50% seats will be allotted through State Admission Counselling process. After online seat allottment, candidates need to report with required documents at their alloted institute within a given timeframe, failing which will null & void the alloted seat and it will be filled in next allotment round.
