MD Community Medicine

1. Completed MBBS from a medical college recognised by NMC.
2. Completed or expected to complete the rotating internship before the specified deadline.
3. Qualified NEET‑PG exam with the required minimum percentile as per category (e.g., ~50th percentile for General category, with relaxations for reserved categories).
4. Possess a valid MBBS registration certificate (provisional or permanent) from the Medical Council.

The MD – Community Medicine programme at Trichy SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre is a dedicated three‑year postgraduate degree designed to train physicians in the principles of public health and preventive medicine. It emphasises understanding health determinants, epidemiology, disease prevention strategies, biostatistics, health system planning, environmental and occupational health, and community‑oriented teaching. The programme includes both classroom instruction and extensive fieldwork through collaborations with local urban and rural health training centres, as well as government primary health centres, enabling students to gain practical exposure to real‑world community health challenges. Graduates are prepared for roles in public health services, academic departments, research organisations, governmental and non‑governmental health programmes, and health policy planning, with an aim to improve population health outcomes using evidence‑based practices.
