Overview
- Pharmaceutical Chemistry plays a major role in the synthesis of new drug molecules. The synthesis of potent drug molecules with minor side effects can be achieved by a synthetic chemist. Development of new analytical methods using sophisticated instruments like HPLC, FTIR, HPTLC, etc., to check the quality and quantity of the raw materials and finished formulation is dealt with in the course of study. As a whole, pharmaceutical chemistry deals with the isolation, separation, synthesis and analysis of drugs, which has a wider scope in the R&D department of the pharma industry.
- On completion of the M.Pharm in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from VMU a student can work in (R&D) in the pharmaceutical industry, in herbal industries, in a manufacturing unit of fine chemicals, in teaching or as a Government Analyst.
