About Course

The Master of Medicine (Internal Medicine) at the University of Sydney is a professionally-oriented coursework master’s degree aimed at physicians and clinicians who wish to deepen their expertise in adult internal medicine. The programme covers core internal medicine disciplines—such as cardiology, gastroenterology, endocrinology, respiratory medicine, renal medicine, neurology, infectious disease and oncology—through a flexible online format combined with periodic intensive sessions.
The curriculum is structured to align with the knowledge expected for the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) Adult Medicine Basic Training examinations, making it relevant for trainees, practising physicians, and those in emergency/intensive care or general practice.
Typically delivered online with residential/intensive components, the programme fosters flexibility so students can continue clinical practice while studying. The stream-specific units allow tailoring towards areas of interest and subspecialty exposure, while elective units enable further skill development (e.g., clinical reasoning, medical education, grant writing).
