MDS Oral Pathology and Microbiology

Overview

The M. D. S. in Oral Pathology & Microbiology is a three year Postgraduate program. It is the specialty of dentistry that deals with the nature, characteristics, cause, effects and diagnosis of diseases affecting the oral and maxillofacial regions and study of the immune system, which facilitates appropriate treatment of the same. The Postgraduate students are trained to attain competence in dealing with the nature of oral diseases, their causes and effects.
They perform routine histopathological evaluations of specimens and also carry out routine diagnostic procedures including cytological, microbiological, other investigations and research projects. This curriculum is designed so as to enable not only academic and clinical proficiency, but also potentiate the intellectual, rational and social ability of the student, resulting in Oral Pathologists who will excel in patient care.

Eligibility

Admission Criteria are established by the college. To be considered for admission, you should have completed a five year Baccalaureate (BDS) from a Dental Council of India accredited college or university prior to beginning postgraduate studies.

You should have earned good scores or grades in all prior undergraduate college-level coursework. A 2-3 page sample of your best writing for further evaluation of your professional and research skills. This could be a short paper, an excerpt from a longer paper, a report from your place of employment, or a medical writing sample (e.g. a lab report, a research report etc.).
