Overview
The Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Sydney is a highly competitive, professionally-oriented programme that prepares graduates for work as clinical psychologists. The course is designed on the scientist-practitioner model, combining advanced coursework in psychological theory and intervention, extensive supervised clinical placements (including the university’s on-campus Psychology Clinic) and a research project component. Students gain experience across lifespan contexts (child, adolescent, adult), use evidence-based therapies (such as cognitive behavioural therapy), undertake psychometric assessments and contribute to research in clinical psychology. The programme is accredited by APAC and recognised by the Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) for the pathway to endorsement as a clinical psychologist. With limited intake spaces and rigorous selection criteria, the MCP at Sydney is suited for those committed to a career in clinical psychology, clinical research or leadership in mental-health settings.
