MPhil in Psychiatric Social Work

• Applicants should have completed Master in Social Work (MSW) from a university recognized by UGC with minimum 55% marks for Unreserved & EWS and 50% marks for SC, ST & OBC in aggregate.
• All India Entrance exam will be held for all the applicants, at different locations like Mumbai, New Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Ranchi.
• Shortlisted candidates will be scheduled for interview/ practical at CIP in Ranchi.

The course is offer by Department of Psychiatric Social Work. The department was started disseminating the academic and clinical training for Psychiatric Social Workers by starting the Diploma in Psychiatric Social Work (DPSW) Course in the late 1960s. It has made available courses to Post Graduates in the subjects of Sociology, Social Anthropology and other Social Science subjects.

Academic Activities:

• The trainees are given overall exposure of mental health and behavioural science with the aim to instil the ‘unitedness and working alliance among all mental health disciplines (e.g., Psychiatry, Clinical Psychology, Psychiatric Nursing and other allied disciplines)’.
• The students are also given ample privileges and opportunities to develop their clinical and academic skills.
• The student-trainees are entrusted to take up daily routine clinical and therapeutic activities at both in-patient and out-patient levels.
• They learn to dispense family and community based therapeutic services for people with mental illnesses under the direct supervision of the faculty.
