Internal Medicine Pediatrics Residency Program

6. United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or Comprehensive Osteopathic Medical Licensing Examination (COMLEX) scores
7. 3–4 Letters of Recommendation
8. USMLE Step 2 is not required at the time of application but is encouraged.
9. International Medical Graduates must have at least 3 months of hands-on clinical experience in the United States.
10. International Medical Graduates must have graduated from medical school within the last 5 years.
11. The program sponsors J-1 visas only and does not sponsor H visas.

The Internal Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center (UTHSC), Memphis, provides four years of integrated training in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Residents gain comprehensive clinical experience through inpatient and outpatient rotations, intensive care, emergency medicine, neonatal and pediatric care, and various subspecialties. The program also offers elective rotations, continuity clinics, research, scholarly activities, simulation training, and point-of-care ultrasound, preparing residents to provide comprehensive care to both adult and pediatric patients.

3. The program reviews applications holistically and selects candidates for interviews.
4. The program participates in program signaling for the 2026–2027 recruitment season; signals are considered as part of the application review but are not a requirement for an interview.
5. Selected applicants participate in a virtual interview through Zoom.
6. Interviews are conducted from October through December.
7. Positions are offered through the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP).
