Internal Medicine Pediatrics Residency Program

The Internal Medicine-Pediatrics (Med-Peds) Residency Program is a four-year combined postgraduate medical training designed to prepare physicians for dual board certification in both Internal Medicine and Pediatrics. Residents complete integrated clinical rotations in adult and pediatric care, combining core training in general internal medicine with pediatric inpatient, outpatient, and specialty experiences. Training takes place across multiple clinical sites including ChristianaCare Health System (for adult internal medicine), Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware (for pediatric care), and affiliated community practices. The program emphasizes comprehensive patient management, continuity of care across all ages, leadership development, evidence-based decision making, and opportunities in quality improvement and research. Residents develop skills to care for a wide spectrum of patients — from newborns to elderly adults — preparing them for versatile careers in primary care, hospital medicine, subspecialty fellowship training, or academic medicine.
