Institute of Management Studies (IMS), a premier institute of Business Management, was established on 21 August 1969, under the aegis of the University of Indore as the Management education wing of the university. It was named as Department of Business Management in 1974 and was granted the status of Institute of Management Studies in 1988. It is the oldest institute of the city that offers an MBA degree. Initially, the organization offered only a 'Distance Education' degree in business administration with three-year duration. However, the intake capacity was later increased. Over the period of time IMS has earned a reputation for academic excellence in providing practical and quality academic programmes in the field of Management. Today, it has student strength of more than 1500 students studying as full-time students under different programmes. The institute also offers MBA programme for Executives along with Ph.D and M. Phil in Management.
