About

The IGICH was founded on 06 August 1985 by Dr. D.G. Benkappa. It has aided by Government of Karnataka since 1991 and runs as an Autonomous Body. It is registered under Karnataka Societies Registration Act 1960. It is a 428 bedded pediatric tertiary care center with NICU, PICU & SNCU, a major government run pediatric referral centre in Bengaluru. It has a vision to provide comprehensive and quality care to Pediatric patients. Its mission is to give affordable quality child care for all in an Equitable and Ethical manner, achieving academic excellence in Medical Education and research in the field of Child Health. The primary aim of the institute is to provide comprehensive tertiary care to all children with various medical and surgical ailments. It also provide skilled training in various aspects of Pediatric care including subspecialties, fellowships for candidates in the specialty of Pediatrics, Pediatric Surgery and other related super specialties. It also organize scientific meetings, seminars, symposium, and workshops in Child Health, to take up research programs relating to diagnosis and treatment of Pediatric ailments.
