Established in 1948, Government Ayurvedic College is the premier institute for Indian System of Medicine in Northeast India. Located in Jalukbari, just 800 meters from the National Highway, the college was formerly affiliated with Gawahati University, under which earlier batches continue their academic pursuits. Since 2010, the college has been affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences, Assam. It follows the syllabus and curriculum prescribed by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, the statutory body for Indian System of Medicine
