Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

• Must have completed 10+2 (Higher Secondary) with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB).
• Minimum 50% marks in PCB (approx. 40% for reserved categories).
• Must qualify NEET-UG (mandatory for admission).
• Minimum age: 17 years at the time of admission.

The BAMS course at Government Ayurvedic College & Hospital (GACH), Guwahati is a 5.5-year undergraduate program in Ayurveda. It combines traditional Ayurvedic knowledge with modern medical science. The course includes 4.5 years of academic study followed by a 1-year compulsory internship. Students study subjects like Samhita, anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and Panchakarma. The curriculum is designed as per NCISM guidelines to ensure quality education. Practical training is provided through the attached Ayurvedic hospital. Students gain hands-on clinical exposure in OPD, IPD, and Panchakarma units. The program focuses on developing skilled professionals in holistic and preventive healthcare.
