The Abdominal Transplantation Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical School is a 2-year clinical fellowship providing advanced training in abdominal organ transplantation. The first six months focus on cadaveric and living-donor evaluation, donor operations, and postoperative donor care, followed by extensive training in the preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative management of kidney, liver, kidney-pancreas, pancreas, and islet-cell transplant recipients. Fellows also receive opportunities for clinical and laboratory research, including presentation of research at national meetings and publication in scientific journals.
