Fellowship in Vascular Surgery

The UCSF Vascular Surgery Fellowship is a 2-year ACGME-approved fellowship with one fellow selected per year. The program provides comprehensive clinical training in the management and non-invasive diagnosis of vascular disorders, with both years spent primarily on the vascular surgery service. Fellows gain extensive experience in approximately 1,000 vascular cases annually, including complex cerebrovascular, thoracoabdominal aortic, visceral, renal, and lower-extremity procedures using open surgical and endovascular techniques. The program also includes weekly clinical conferences and opportunities for faculty-mentored research and presentations at regional and national meetings.

1. Apply electronically through ERAS (Electronic Residency Application Service)
2. Submit the ERAS application and CV
3. Submit a personal statement
4. Submit medical school transcript(s) and MSPE/Dean’s Letter
5. Submit 3 letters of recommendation, including one from the General Surgery Program Director or Department Chair
6. Submit official NBME transcripts with all USMLE scores
7. Submit ABSITE scores
8. IMG applicants must additionally provide ECFMG certification, ECFMG J-1 visa status/appropriate U.S. residency status, and a valid Medical Board of California Authorization Letter
9. Register with the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
10. The Program Director and selection committee review applications using a holistic selection process
11. Selected applicants are invited for an interview with the Program Director and faculty
12. The Program Director and Vascular Surgery Faculty establish the rank order list, which is submitted to NRMP
13. Applicants who match receive written confirmation and a formal fellowship appointment from UCSF
