The Uveitis Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine (Gavin Herbert Eye Institute), Irvine is a 12-month clinical fellowship that provides advanced training in the diagnosis and management of uveitis and ocular inflammatory diseases. Fellows gain comprehensive experience in treating anterior, intermediate, posterior, and panuveitis, as well as inflammatory disorders affecting both the anterior and posterior segments of the eye and the orbit. The program offers hands-on training in complex anterior segment surgery, local pharmacologic injections, immunosuppressive therapy, corneal transplantation, complex cataract surgery, secondary intraocular lens implantation, ocular surface reconstruction, scleral and conjunctival biopsy, vitreous biopsy, and posterior segment pharmacologic implants. Fellows also participate in clinical or laboratory research, resident teaching, and academic activities, preparing them for careers as specialists in uveitis, ocular inflammation, and ocular immunology.
