The Fellowship in Trauma and Acute Care Surgery at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine is the second year of a two-year Surgical Critical Care & Trauma and Acute Care Surgery Fellowship. The program provides advanced training in trauma, emergency general surgery, acute surgical care, and advanced operative and procedural techniques. Fellows receive hands-on experience at a Level I trauma center and are responsible, under attending supervision, for the evaluation and management of acutely ill surgical patients. Training includes 8 months of Trauma & Emergency General Surgery, 2 months of Thoracic & Vascular Surgery, and 2 months of Hepatobiliary/Transplant Surgery. The curriculum emphasizes complex trauma care, emergency surgery, advanced thoracic, vascular and gastrointestinal procedures, and preparation for independent clinical or academic practice.
