Fellowship in Transplant Nephrology

1. Candidates should hold a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent medical degree from a qualifying medical school.
2. Candidates should have completed Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship training before undertaking advanced transplant nephrology training.
3. Candidates must meet Cedars-Sinai's Graduate Medical Education eligibility requirements. Graduates of medical schools outside the United States and Canada must have a school listed in the World Directory of Medical Schools and either current Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certification or applicable United States medical licensure.
4. Candidates should have appropriate clinical training and a strong interest in kidney transplantation and transplant nephrology.
5. Candidates must satisfy applicable California medical licensing, credentialing, and institutional requirements.
6. Candidates with prior postgraduate training must provide verification of satisfactory completion of their previous training.

The Transplant Nephrology Fellowship provides advanced clinical training in the care and management of kidney transplant patients. Training includes experience with the inpatient renal transplant service and renal transplant clinic at Cedars-Sinai, along with exposure to pre- and post-transplant care, transplantation-related nephrology, dialysis, and multidisciplinary patient management. Fellows also participate in nephrology conferences and clinical research, with dedicated research opportunities throughout the training period.

1. Complete Internal Medicine residency followed by Nephrology fellowship training.
2. Prepare the required application documents, including curriculum vitae, medical school documentation, examination scores, and letters of recommendation.
3. Submit the fellowship application and required institutional physician application documents according to Cedars-Sinai's application process. Cedars-Sinai's general fellowship policy requires two letters of recommendation for fellowship applicants.
4. Eligible applicants may be invited for an interview.
5. The program reviews candidates based on their postgraduate training, clinical experience, academic background, and suitability for transplant nephrology.
6. Selected candidates must complete credentialing, California licensure requirements, background checks, and other onboarding requirements before starting training.
