Fellowship in Transplant Hepatology

1. Must be currently enrolled in or have completed a Gastroenterology fellowship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education.
2. Must meet the requirements for Gastroenterology board eligibility when the fellowship begins.
3. Must have a valid California medical license at the start of the fellowship.
4. Must be a United States citizen or permanent resident.
5. Canadian citizens may be eligible with a J-1 visa if they completed a Gastroenterology program accredited by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.

The Transplant Hepatology Fellowship at Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is a one-year advanced fellowship focused on the comprehensive management of patients with acute and chronic liver diseases and those undergoing liver transplantation. Fellows receive clinical training in a high-volume liver transplant program, including inpatient and outpatient care, management of cirrhosis, portal hypertension, hepatocellular carcinoma, and pre- and post-liver transplantation care. The program also provides multidisciplinary training, research opportunities, and teaching experience with residents and medical students.

1. Apply approximately one year before the fellowship start date.
2. Submit the application through the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases Match System.
3. Applications generally begin in winter.
4. Shortlisted applicants are invited for interviews, generally beginning in spring.
5. Selected candidates must complete all required licensing, board eligibility, and immigration requirements before starting the fellowship.
