The UAB Surgical Pathology Fellowship is a one-year program providing advanced training in diagnostic surgical pathology across a broad range of subspecialties. Fellows gain experience with a high volume of surgical pathology specimens and develop expertise in areas such as gastrointestinal and liver, breast, gynecologic, genitourinary, musculoskeletal, head and neck, pulmonary, and renal pathology. The training includes graduated diagnostic responsibilities, frozen-section interpretation, multidisciplinary tumor boards and conferences, resident and medical student teaching, and opportunities for clinical, translational, or basic research. Fellows can tailor their training toward up to three subspecialty areas and may also pursue elective experiences in Pediatric Pathology and Molecular Pathology.
