Fellowship in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery

The Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery Fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine is designed to train board-eligible neurosurgeons in advanced stereotactic and functional neurosurgical techniques. The fellowship focuses on surgical treatment of movement disorders, neuropsychiatric conditions, and epilepsy, including MRI-based target localization, microelectrode recording, deep brain stimulation (DBS) implantation and programming, and management of DBS-related complications. Fellows also receive training in the evaluation and surgical management of conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, tremor, OCD, intractable headache disorders, and epilepsy. The program emphasizes research and academic development through mentorship in study design, statistical analysis, clinical trials, data analysis, presentations, and manuscript publication, preparing fellows for careers in academic or nonacademic stereotactic and functional neurosurgery.
