Fellowship in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery

• Completed or final-year Neurosurgery residency (PGY-5 or higher)
• MD/MBBS degree (or equivalent)
• MCh / DNB Neurosurgery (India) or equivalent international qualification
• Eligible for medical training license in Maryland, USA
• ECFMG certification (for international candidates, if required)
• USMLE (required in most cases for licensing/visa)
• Strong clinical training in neurosurgery
• Interest in Stereotactic & Functional Neurosurgery (DBS, epilepsy, movement disorders)
• Research experience / publications (preferred)
• 2–3 Letters of Recommendation (including Program Director)
• English proficiency (TOEFL/IELTS, if applicable)
• Eligible for J-1 or H-1B visa

The Fellowship in Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), Baltimore is an advanced clinical and research-based training program designed to develop expertise in the surgical management of complex neurological disorders. The fellowship focuses on precision-based neurosurgical techniques, including deep brain stimulation (DBS) for movement disorders such as Parkinson’s disease, tremors, and dystonia, as well as epilepsy surgery, pain management procedures, and neuromodulation therapies. Fellows gain hands-on experience in stereotactic procedures, intraoperative neurophysiology, and brain mapping while working in a multidisciplinary environment alongside neurology, psychiatry, and neurophysiology teams. The program also emphasizes academic development through participation in cutting-edge research and clinical trials, preparing candidates for leadership roles in functional neurosurgery.
