The Renal Pathology Fellowship at UCSF is a one-year advanced fellowship focused on the diagnosis and management of adult and pediatric renal diseases, renal transplant pathology, and electron microscopy. Fellows evaluate approximately 1,500 kidney biopsies annually, including native kidney, transplant, and donor biopsies. Training includes daily transplant pathology conferences, renal biopsy conferences, multidisciplinary case discussions, resident teaching, and hands-on experience with electron microscopy. The program also provides protected research time with opportunities in clinical, translational, digital pathology, molecular diagnostics, and renal transplantation research.
