Fellowship in Pediatric Neuro-Oncology

The Pediatric Neuro-Oncology Fellowship at UCSF School of Medicine, San Francisco is a one-year clinical fellowship focused on the evaluation and management of children and young adults with benign and malignant central nervous system (CNS) tumors. Fellows receive supervised training in inpatient and outpatient neuro-oncology at the San Francisco and Oakland campuses, with rotations in neuropathology, neuroradiology, neurosurgery, radiation oncology, and palliative care. The program also provides extensive exposure to clinical trials, neuroimaging, pathology, molecular diagnostics, treatment planning, and management of tumor- and treatment-related complications. Fellows complete a clinical research or quality-improvement project with faculty mentorship, preparing them for careers in pediatric neuro-oncology and translational research.

2. Submit 3 letters of recommendation
3. One recommendation letter must be from the applicant’s most recent Program Director
4. Submit a Statement of Interest
5. Applications are reviewed by the Program Training Committee
6. Selected applicants are invited for an interview
7. Interviews may be conducted in person or by video conference
8. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis starting in November, following Society of Neuro-Oncology (SNO) guidelines
9. Training begins in July of the following year
10. One fellow is selected per academic year
