The Pediatric Hospital Medicine Fellowship at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware is an ACGME-accredited two-year subspecialty training program designed to train clinicians for leadership in pediatric hospitalist practice, academic medicine, quality improvement, and research. Fellows rotate across diverse settings including general inpatient teams at a freestanding children’s hospital and community hospital, well newborn nursery, pediatric critical care, emergency departments, and surgical co-management of medically complex children. Curricular experiences also include resident and medical student teaching, administrative leadership development, and personalized elective experiences (e.g., transport medicine, anesthesia/sedation, child abuse pediatrics, palliative care, and pain management) tailored to individual fellow interests. Research and quality improvement activities are embedded in training with mentorship for scholarly projects. Graduates are eligible to take the American Board of Pediatrics Pediatric Hospital Medicine board exam and are competitive for academic or community hospital hospitalist roles.
