Fellowship in Pediatric Hemato Oncology

1. Medical Degree (MD) or equivalent.
2. United States citizenship, Canadian citizenship, or permanent resident status in the United States is preferred.
3. Non-citizens carrying J-1 visas may be considered on a case-by-case basis; currently, other visa types are not eligible.
4. Completion of 3 years of Pediatric residency in an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education-approved program.
5. Expected satisfactory completion of requirements for Certification in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.
6. Applicants must register with the National Resident Matching Program and provide their National Resident Matching Program number.
7. California Medical License is required at the time of starting the fellowship.

The UCLA Pediatric Hematology-Oncology Fellowship provides training in Pediatric Hematology and Oncology at UCLA Mattel Children’s Hospital. The program combines extensive basic scientific resources with a strong clinical investigation program and aims to prepare fellows for academic careers. Training includes hematologic and oncologic disorders, chemotherapy, hematopoietic stem cell transplantation, infectious complications in immunocompromised patients, blood banking and hemostasis, radiation oncology, and procedures such as bone marrow aspiration and biopsy, lumbar puncture, chemotherapy administration, skin biopsy, and stem cell harvesting. Fellows also develop clinical decision-making, communication, teaching, patient advocacy, and clinical or basic research skills.

3. A Personal Statement is required.
4. Applicants must submit 3 Letters of Recommendation.
5. The program begins reviewing applications in July when the Electronic Residency Application Service releases applications.
6. Selected applicants are notified regarding interview availability.
7. Applicants must register with the National Resident Matching Program.
8. The National Resident Matching Program Rank List Certification Deadline is November 19, 2025, and Match Day is December 3, 2025, for the listed cycle.
