The Pediatric Epilepsy Fellowship Program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine is a one-year advanced fellowship focused on the diagnosis and comprehensive management of epilepsy in infants, children, and adolescents. Fellows receive specialized training in electroencephalography (EEG), epilepsy monitoring, seizure classification and treatment, ketogenic diet therapy, neurostimulation, and epilepsy surgery evaluation. The program provides exposure to advanced presurgical investigations, including magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), positron emission tomography (PET), single-photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), magnetoencephalography (MEG), and intracranial EEG. Fellows also participate in multidisciplinary epilepsy clinics, surgical conferences, research, clinical trials, and quality improvement activities.
