Overview
- The ACGME Pediatric Dermatology Fellowship at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is a one-year advanced subspecialty training program designed to provide comprehensive expertise in diagnosing and managing skin disorders in infants, children, and adolescents. The program offers extensive hands-on clinical experience in both outpatient and inpatient settings, where fellows treat a wide range of conditions including inflammatory, infectious, genetic, and neoplastic skin diseases. Training also includes dermatologic procedures such as biopsies and minor surgeries, along with exposure to multidisciplinary care involving pediatrics and other specialties.
- In addition to clinical training, fellows participate in academic activities such as case discussions, teaching, conferences, and research, helping them develop strong analytical and evidence-based practice skills. The diverse patient population in Brooklyn provides broad clinical exposure, ensuring fellows gain real-world experience across varied dermatologic conditions. By the end of the fellowship, trainees are well prepared for independent practice and board certification in pediatric dermatology.
