Overview

The Pediatric Anesthesiology Fellowship at Nemours Children’s Hospital, Delaware is an intensive 1-year ACGME-accredited subspecialty fellowship that prepares physicians for advanced practice and leadership in pediatric anesthesia. Fellows gain comprehensive exposure to anesthetic care across a large pediatric surgical workload — including general surgery, trauma, organ transplant, orthopedics, neurosurgery, ENT, and other subspecialties — as well as regional anesthesia and perioperative pain management. The fellowship emphasizes clinical excellence, didactics, research and quality improvement, and interdisciplinary collaboration with critical care teams. Fellows also participate in weekly conferences, simulation labs, journal clubs, and preparation for oral board assessments. The program’s setting in a busy Level I pediatric trauma center provides broad experience with complex cases and a strong foundation for careers in academic or specialized pediatric anesthesia practice.
