Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia

1. MD / DO or equivalent medical degree
2. Completion (or expected completion) of an accredited Anesthesiology Residency
3. Board-eligible or board-certified in Anesthesiology
4. Valid USMLE / COMLEX scores (for US & international applicants)
5. Eligibility for medical licensure in California
6. Strong clinical training and academic background
7. For international applicants: ECFMG certification and equivalent qualifications may be required

The Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship at University of California, San Francisco is a 1-year ACGME-accredited advanced training program that provides comprehensive clinical and academic exposure in pediatric anesthesiology, primarily at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital. Fellows gain hands-on experience managing anesthesia for neonates, infants, and children across a wide range of routine and complex surgical procedures, including cardiac, neonatal, and critical care cases, through structured rotations covering multiple pediatric subspecialties. The program emphasizes perioperative management, patient safety, multidisciplinary collaboration, and evidence-based practice, while also offering opportunities in teaching, simulation training, and research, ultimately preparing fellows for independent clinical practice, academic careers, and leadership roles in pediatric anesthesiology
