Fellowship in Pediatric Anesthesia

1. Applicants must have successfully completed an accredited residency program in Anesthesiology before starting the fellowship.
2. Applicants must meet the eligibility requirements for appointment to the UAB Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship.
3. Candidates are evaluated based on their written application, academic record, scholarly activities, and interview performance.
4. The program is designed for physicians seeking advanced subspecialty training in Pediatric Anesthesiology.

The UAB Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship is a 12-month advanced training program designed to develop expertise in pediatric anesthesiology. Fellows gain clinical experience in preoperative assessment, general pediatric anesthesia, pediatric physiology and pharmacology, pediatric critical care, pediatric cardiovascular anesthesia, and pediatric pain management. Training is conducted at Children’s of Alabama and provides exposure to a broad range of pediatric surgical and medical cases. Fellows also participate in lectures, grand rounds, journal clubs, quality improvement and patient safety activities, and are required to complete an academic project that may be presented at a regional or national meeting.
