Fellowship in Pain Medicine

1. Must hold an MD or DO degree.
2. Successful completion of an ACGME‑accredited residency training program.
3. Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Oklahoma.
4. Board‑eligible or certified in primary specialty.
5. ERAS application submitted with required documents.

The Pain Medicine Fellowship at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine is an ACGME‑accredited postgraduate training program designed to develop competent specialists in complex pain management. Over twelve months, fellows gain experience in evaluating chronic and acute pain conditions across adult and pediatric populations. Training includes in‑depth instruction in interventional procedures (e.g., neuraxial injections, nerve blocks, neuromodulation techniques, and injections), pharmacologic therapy, and multidisciplinary care coordination with radiology, neurosurgery, oncology, physical medicine, and rehabilitation. Fellows participate in a structured didactic curriculum, journal clubs, and clinical research projects. The program emphasizes clinical excellence, professional communication, and scholarly development to prepare graduates for independent practice in academic or private pain medicine settings. Fellows rotate through multiple clinical sites including the University of Oklahoma Medical Center, Children’s Hospital, and VA Medical Center, gaining broad exposure to diverse pain disorders.
