Fellowship in Oculofacial Plastic and Orbital Surgery

• Must hold a medical degree (MD or equivalent) from an accredited medical school.
• Must have successfully completed a three-year Ophthalmology Residency Program.
• Must have completed USMLE Step 1, Step 2, and Step 3.
• Must have successfully completed the Ophthalmic Knowledge Assessment Program (OKAP).
• Must obtain a California medical license before starting the fellowship.
• Applicants must be U.S. citizens or hold a valid J-1 visa.

The Oculofacial Plastic and Orbital Surgery Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine (Gavin Herbert Eye Institute), Irvine is a 24-month ASOPRS-accredited fellowship program that provides advanced training in oculofacial plastic, orbital, eyelid, lacrimal, and reconstructive surgery. The program offers comprehensive clinical and surgical exposure in the management of orbital diseases, eyelid disorders, tear duct conditions, facial trauma, reconstructive procedures, and cosmetic oculofacial surgery. Fellows receive high-volume surgical training at multiple clinical sites, including the Gavin Herbert Eye Institute, UCI Medical Center, and affiliated hospitals, along with opportunities in research, teaching, case conferences, wet labs, and academic activities. The fellowship prepares graduates for careers as oculoplastic surgeons, orbital specialists, reconstructive ophthalmic surgeons, and academic ophthalmologists.
