Fellowship in Neuroimmunology and Neurological Infectious Disease

• Must have completed Residency in Neurology or Pediatric Neurology from an accredited program
• Must hold an MD (Doctor of Medicine) / equivalent medical degree
• Should be clinically trained in neurology with strong foundational knowledge
• Board-certified or board-eligible in Neurology (generally preferred)
• Must be eligible for medical licensure in Maryland (USA)
• For international applicants:
• ECFMG certification required
• Eligible for J-1 visa sponsorship (in most cases)
• Strong interest or experience in neuroimmunology / neuroinfectious diseases
• Research background is highly preferred (not mandatory but advantageous)

The Fellowship in Neuroimmunology and Neurological Infectious Disease at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), Baltimore is an advanced subspecialty training program of 2–3 years designed to provide comprehensive expertise in the diagnosis and management of neuroimmunological and neuroinfectious disorders. The program offers extensive clinical exposure to conditions such as multiple sclerosis, autoimmune encephalitis, CNS infections, and other neuroinflammatory diseases through both inpatient and outpatient services at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. Fellows work in a multidisciplinary environment alongside specialists in neurology, infectious diseases, and immunology, gaining hands-on experience with advanced diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. A significant emphasis is placed on research, with dedicated time for clinical, translational, or laboratory-based studies, enabling fellows to develop academic and investigative skills. The fellowship aims to train highly skilled neurologists capable of contributing to patient care, research, and teaching in the evolving field of neuroimmunology and neurological infectious diseases.
