Fellowship in Neonatal Neurology and Neurocritical Care

The Neonatal Neurology and Neurocritical Care Fellowship at UCSF School of Medicine, San Francisco is a 1-year clinical fellowship designed to train physicians in neonatal neurology, fetal neurology, and neonatal neurocritical care. The program provides supervised clinical experience in inpatient neonatal neurocritical care, including the Intensive Care Nursery and Cardiac ICU, as well as fetal neurology, outpatient follow-up of children with perinatal brain injury, EEG interpretation, and MRI interpretation. Fellows develop expertise in diagnosing and managing neonatal neurological disorders, neurodiagnostic and neuroimaging techniques, neuroprotection, prognostication, evidence-based medicine, and communication with families. The program also offers an optional research component through laboratory or clinical research, with opportunities to extend training to three years through external funding.
