The Movement Disorders Fellowship at UAB Heersink School of Medicine is a two-year advanced training program focused on the diagnosis and treatment of Parkinson disease, atypical Parkinsonian syndromes, tremor, dystonia, Huntington disease, ataxia, myoclonus, tics, Tourette syndrome, and other movement disorders. Fellows receive extensive clinical experience through general and subspecialty clinics, botulinum toxin procedures, deep brain stimulation (DBS) programming and surgery, pediatric movement disorders, and multidisciplinary clinics. The program also provides structured teaching and opportunities for clinical, translational, neurogenetics, and laboratory research, with the second year allowing fellows to tailor training toward their career interests.
