Fellowship in Movement Disorders

The Movement Disorders Fellowship at the University of Minnesota Medical School is a two-year fellowship providing comprehensive training in the diagnosis and management of movement disorders. The first year focuses on clinical evaluation and treatment of Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonism, dystonia, tremor, myoclonus, chorea, tics, and ataxia, along with foundational training in deep brain stimulation (DBS) and botulinum toxin therapy. In the second year, fellows manage their own patient panel, gain advanced experience in DBS programming and surgical neurophysiology, and participate in research through the Udall Parkinson’s Disease Center of Excellence and neurophysiology, bioengineering, and MRI laboratories.

1. Register with the San Francisco Match (SF Match).
2. Registration/application is generally conducted between April 1 and May 15.
3. Submit a CV.
4. Submit 3 letters of recommendation from faculty/mentors on letterhead with signatures.
5. Submit a personal statement describing interest in the fellowship or career path.
6. Submit official USMLE or COMLEX score reports.
7. A completed application must be available through SF Match by July 1 for interview consideration.
8. Selected applicants are invited for an interview.
9. Fellow selection is completed through the San Francisco Match, with ranking and selection taking place in early September.
