Fellowship in Microsurgery

The Microsurgery Fellowship at UC Irvine School of Medicine is a 1-year advanced fellowship program designed to provide specialized training in complex microsurgical reconstruction. The program prepares fellows to develop expertise in advanced microscopic procedures with emphasis on breast reconstruction, lymphatic surgery (supermicrosurgery), head and neck reconstruction, hand and upper extremity reconstruction, lower extremity reconstruction, trauma reconstruction, and peripheral nerve surgery. Fellows receive high-volume clinical training at UC Irvine Medical Center, a Level I Trauma Center and Comprehensive Cancer Center, with extensive exposure to free flap reconstruction and complex reconstructive cases. The fellowship also provides opportunities for clinical and basic science research, academic conferences, professional development activities, and mentorship from experienced plastic surgery faculty. The program aims to develop skilled reconstructive microsurgeons capable of managing complex surgical cases and pursuing careers in academic or advanced clinical practice.
