Fellowship in Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology

1. Candidates must be board-eligible or board-certified in Dermatology.
2. Applicants must have completed the required Dermatology residency training to qualify for board eligibility or certification.
3. Candidates must meet the applicable UAB Graduate Medical Education requirements.

The one-year Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology Fellowship provides comprehensive advanced training in Mohs micrographic surgery, general dermatologic surgery, and cutaneous oncology. Fellows also receive additional exposure to head and neck surgery, oculoplastics, dermatopathology, and American Society for Dermatologic Surgery preceptorships. The program includes scholarly activities such as teaching, publications, and presentations at national meetings.

1. Apply exclusively through the San Francisco Match.
2. Submit the application by August 1.
3. Candidates selected for the second round must complete a secondary application in October through their San Francisco Match inbox.
4. Selected candidates are invited for a virtual interview.
5. Interviewees must submit a suture video demonstrating surgical marking, excision, undermining, two buried sutures, and two epidermal sutures.
6. Approximately 18 candidates are usually interviewed for one fellowship position.
7. Interested applicants may arrange a one-day observership with faculty during the summer or early fall.
