Fellowship in Limb Preservation

1. Must have successfully completed a 3-year Podiatry Residency Program before starting training at UCSF
2. Must be able to obtain a full, unrestricted California Podiatric License
3. The fellowship is intended for physicians who have completed podiatric training and wish to specialize further in limb salvage

The Limb Preservation Fellowship at UCSF School of Medicine is a one-year, non-ACGME fellowship designed for podiatric physicians who have completed podiatric training and wish to specialize in limb salvage and preservation. The program provides multidisciplinary clinical training in diabetic and vascular complications of the lower extremity, with rotations through vascular/podiatry clinics at UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus, Saint Mary’s Medical Center, and San Francisco General Hospital. Fellows gain exposure to conditions and procedures including critical limb ischemia, diabetic foot infections and ulcers, peripheral arterial disease, Charcot arthropathy, foot amputations, endovascular procedures, and lower-extremity open revascularization. Weekly clinical conferences and opportunities for faculty-mentored research and presentations further support academic development.
