The Laboratory Genetics & Genomics Fellowship at UCSF is a two-year ACGME-accredited fellowship designed to train doctoral-level professionals to direct, perform, and interpret genetic and genomic laboratory testing for human genetic diseases. Training covers cancer genetics, constitutional genetics, pharmacogenomics, cytogenetics, molecular genetics, biochemical genetics, and clinical genetics. Fellows gain hands-on experience through laboratory bench work, clinical case sign-out, test validation projects, conferences, and communication of laboratory results with clinicians and patients. The program prepares graduates to direct diagnostic genetics/genomics laboratories and serve as laboratory consultants across a range of genetic disorders.
