Fellowship in Infectious Diseases (FID)

1. Completion of a 3-year accredited Internal Medicine residency before starting the fellowship
2. Must provide USMLE and/or COMLEX examination transcripts
3. International Medical Graduates (IMGs) must have a valid ECFMG certificate
4. IMGs must obtain a State of California eligibility letter
5. U.S. clinical experience is required for IMGs
6. The program accepts J-1 visa sponsorship only
7. Applicants must apply through ERAS; applications sent by mail, fax, or email are not accepted

The USC/LA General Infectious Diseases Fellowship is a 2-year ACGME-accredited fellowship providing comprehensive clinical and academic training in infectious diseases. Fellows gain experience in general and orthopedic infectious diseases, antimicrobial stewardship, HIV/AIDS, viral hepatitis, transplant infectious diseases, hospital epidemiology, infection prevention and control, microbiology, and pediatric infectious diseases across Los Angeles General Medical Center, Keck Medical Center, USC Norris Cancer Hospital, and the Rand Schrader HIV Clinic. The program also offers specialized tracks, conferences, faculty-mentored research, and opportunities for scholarly publication.

1. Submit the application through ERAS
2. Include the ERAS Common Application, CV, medical school transcript, and personal statement
3. Submit USMLE and/or COMLEX transcripts
4. Provide 3 letters of recommendation, including one from the current Program Director
5. IMG applicants must submit/meet the ECFMG certification, California eligibility letter, and U.S. clinical experience requirements
6. Applications are reviewed by the fellowship program
7. Selected applicants receive an interview invitation via email
8. Interviews are conducted virtually and include at least 3 interviews, including one with the Fellowship Program Director
9. All fellowship positions are offered through the NRMP Match
