The Advanced Heart Failure, Transplantation and Mechanical Circulatory Support Fellowship at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine provides immersive training in one of the nation’s leading heart failure and transplant programs. Fellows gain experience in the evaluation and management of patients with advanced heart failure across inpatient and outpatient settings, including candidates for heart transplantation and durable mechanical circulatory support. The curriculum encompasses the care of patients with ventricular assist devices, temporary support systems, and complex post-transplant complications. Fellows participate in multidisciplinary transplant selection conferences, quality improvement initiatives, and research projects under the mentorship of expert faculty. Extensive exposure to cutting-edge therapies and clinical trials fosters the development of advanced clinical judgment and leadership skills. Graduates are exceptionally well prepared for careers in academic cardiology and specialized heart failure and transplant practice.
