Fellowship in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery

• Must have a medical degree (MD/DO or equivalent such as MBBS)
• Completion of a residency in Orthopaedic Surgery or Plastic Surgery from an accredited program
• Candidates are generally expected to be board-eligible or board-certified in their specialty
• Preference may be given to applicants with training from U.S. or Canadian accredited residency programs
• Strong clinical and surgical background in upper extremity/hand surgery is required
• Submission of letters of recommendation and academic credentials is mandatory (standard fellowship requirement)
• For international applicants: valid ECFMG certification is typically required for U.S. clinical training

The Fellowship in Hand & Upper Extremity Surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (JHUSOM), Baltimore is a one-year, ACGME-accredited post-residency program designed for surgeons who have completed training in orthopaedic or plastic surgery. The fellowship provides comprehensive, multidisciplinary training under expert faculty from both the Departments of Orthopaedic Surgery and Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery.
